Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
Know this has been mentioned numerous times on here but not seen a thread about him?

Anyway, he has agreed personal terms and will have a medical today.

Whens the cut off point to register in time for the weekend?

West Ham United are delighted to announce the signing of Nigeria centre-forward Emmanuel Emenike on loan until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old arrives at the Boleyn Ground from Turkish club Fenerbahce, with the Hammers having the option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

Capped 37 times, the powerfully-built striker has scored regularly throughout his career, netting more than 80 club goals, including seven this season during a loan spell at Arabian Gulf League side Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates.

The 6’0 striker came through a successful medical at Spire Roding Hospital on Friday and, after putting pen to paper at the Boleyn Ground, described his joy at the prospect of linking up with Slaven Bilic, a manager he has known for some time.

"I'm very, very happy and very, very excited that I'm here," Emenike told West Ham TV.

"I have always known West Ham as a great Club. I've always been watching them. West Ham's a great Club and I'm happy to be here.

"I've known him [Bilic] for years. When he was at Lokomotiv Moscow, I was at Spartak Moscow, then he came to Besiktas and I was in Fenerbahce, so we've known each other for a long time. I'm happy to be here and happy to play for him.

"We've followed each other's careers and thank God we are here today and we are here together."

Born in the town of Aguleri in south eastern Nigeria, Emenike began his career with Delta Force FC before moving to South African football with Mpumalanga Black Aces and FC Cape Town.

In 2009, at the age of 22, the forward moved to Turkish football with Second Division club Karabukspor, where his 16 goals helped his side to the title and promotion to the top flight.

After scoring on his Super Lig debut, Emenike ended his second season with Karabukspor with 14 league goals to his name – form that led to a reported €9m move Fenerbahce in May 2011.

However, Emenike was on the move again two months later, when he made a switch to Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow. In just over two seasons, he netted 24 goals in 51 games for Spartak before returning to Istanbul for a second spell with Fenerbahce in 2013.

That same year, the striker starred alongside Victor Moses as the Super Eagles of Nigeria won the Africa Cup of Nations, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals, as well as three assists, to his name.

The success continued in the 2013/14 season, when Emenike helped Fenerbahce win the Turkish Super Lig title – ahead of Slaven Bilic’s Besiktas in third place – and Super Cup.

After appearing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals for his country, the centre forward was loaned to Al-Ain in summer 2015, netting seven goals in just eleven appearances.

There are probably other strikers in the world h, without having to revisit someone that we were linked with three years ago. He still hasn't appeared for the Colombian senior side and hasn't resided in Italy long enough to gain EU citizenship, so WP highly unlikely anyway I would suggest.

Re: Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
Duvan Zapata has scored 21 goals in 72 appearances in Italy since we tried to get him around 3 seasons ago.
He might be worth a shout as 4th choice striker if we can get a work permit for him.

Emenike isn't a shit footballer but he isn't good enough for WH going forward.

""It's just goals he is missing" - which is the main thing one asks for in a striker.

I really have nothing more to say to you on the matter! lol."

When caroll isnt scoring people say, look his movement, his all around play. When Eminike after a handful of games isnt scoring (despite his movement etc..) he's shit?

I could say the same for Wellbeck etc..

A foreward's main job is to score, granted. But we have attacking midfielders who score goals for us. What we need is a forward that pulls defences out of position and makes runs behind. This allows room for our attacking midfielders to score. Which is pretty much how we've be playing until Caroll came back and is so slow that it made it impossible for us to play like that.

It's not a co-incidence that most of our goals are scored by attacking midfielders and not strikers. We need the movement up front even more than the goals.

As good as sahko is I wouldnt say he's some goal machine. His movement is what makes him an asset to the team.

My opinion of him differs from yours, what about that can't you accept? I do not think he has shown the talent to make it as a decent striker in this league, i don't believe he has the talent to improve our team as a permanent signing. It's as simple as that.

"Had he put a few of the chances he had away we'd be talking like he was a bargain!" - and if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle. fact is that he hasn't put those chances away, had sakho been in the same positions he would likely have scored.

"It's just goals he is missing" - which is the main thing one asks for in a striker.

I really have nothing more to say to you on the matter! lol.

'i believe he is not good enough to take us forward in terms of first team or squad depth. he is a striker and we need strikers that score goals. but his all round play is not good enough in my opinion.'

What is it about his play that you dont like? what is it that he does that is so bad?

Apart from the lack of goals, I like how he plays. We improved when him and Caroll are on the pitch together. For the style we used to play before Caroll came back (the Sahko role) he does that pretty well.

I'm baffled. Had he put a few of the chances he had away we'd be talking like he was a bargain!

It's just goals he is missing, not actual playing skill etc..
I just think if we can get him scoring he would be a good striker to have in the squad.

I suppose opinons are like arseholes...
only Bilic's opinon really matters.

Re: Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
"He is not a shit player. End of." - that is your opinion, so dont state it as fact.

"You are just one of those people who complains without thinking." - who's complaining? who's not thinking? im stating my opinion.

"Because he hasn't scored he is shit in your eyes" - not at all, i believe he is not good enough to take us forward in terms of first team or squad depth. he is a striker and we need strikers that score goals. but his all round play is not good enough in my opinion.

"Which is why Bilic keeps playing him." - let's see what happens when sakho is back and fit, emenike was a stop gap to cover zarate leaving and the fact that most of our strike force at the time was in and out of the team with injuries.

"Yes people like Austin are more proven but our chairmen doesn't want anyone with extensive injury records" - who mentioned austin? WEIRD.

"As for the international thing. It means he has played at a high level against some of the best players in the world" - so any internationl is a good player based on that theory? ALSO WEIRD.

"So even the government recognises you as exceptional." - first thing you have got right, well done.

''I don't know... Lots of delusional moaners nowadays''

This is what I see on here all he time now, if you don't rate a player or dare to criticize, particuarly the manager, then you are either delusional or a moaner, or both. That's the arguement. Pathetic.

Believe what you want. He is not a shit player. End of.
As others have pointed out, he has the movement, skill and hold up play as good most strikers out there.

You are just one of those people who complains without thinking.
Because he hasn't scored he is shit in your eyes. Regardless of how he is playing in general. Can you point out all these shit pieces of play he's done? The stray passes? the lack of movement? The bad hold up play? You can't really because he does those things. Which is why Bilic keeps playing him.

If he was so shit, Bilic would just play Caroll only or swap him with Moses. He doesn't because in training and in our games he is useful.

Yes he may be expensive, I don't know, but I think every club in the world knows that prem clubs will sitting in wads of cash next season and prices will go up accordingly. It's not rocket science.

Yes people like Austin are more proven but our chairmen doesn't want anyone with extensive injury records so it limits our choice. And any really top striker is not going to want to be 3rd choice either.

As for the international thing. It means he has played at a high level against some of the best players in the world. It's nice to have international level players. It also gets you a fucking work permit in Europe! So even the government recognises you as exceptional.

I don't know... Lots of delusional moaners nowadays.

"Any player you take from another league is a punt. You really don't know how they'll take to it or when they will get used to things." - thinking that way you could say that ANY player is a punt as you have no idea if that player will be the same player in your team as he was at another, Torres for example, great player for liverpool, shocking for chelsea. if you scout the players properly and pick top quality then they have a far greater chance of settling.

"Especially strikers who are only rated by goals and cant hide behind other playing stats. The amount of strikers who were "tried and tested" in other leagues, even other clubs in the same league, and then failed is massive." - And yet based on this you still want Emenike? lol

He does not in any way shape or form improve our first team.

what has being an international got to do with it? fucking hell we have some proper idiot fans if they think that being called up for nigeria means you are a good player. jesus wept.

Re: Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
He isn't great, but nor is he shit! He is strong on the ball & puts in a fair amount of effort. I much prefer him to the far too lightweight Valencia. I watched the last few minutes of the Leicester game again & Valencia was half running around not putting in even one half decent challenge for the ball. Valencia would look good in a 12 year old game, unless he came up against some of the bigger boys! There is no way we will pay £8M for EE, but he has come in useful of late to at least give us a striking presence. As for AC, he still offers us a lot & gives us a different option up front. He scares the sh*t out of defenders, especially when coming off the bench. Sakho needs to start being thankful that he is being paid mega bucks, before he ends up in some tin pot league earning peanuts again! He has the ability, but has he got the brains or temperament to go with it? Imagine where we would be now with a Kane, Vardy or Lukaku up front!

I think we all must be shopping at different supermarkets here...

Leonardo Ulloa is Leceisters 3rd choice striker. He cost them 8m at 27yrs old. Has scored 3 goals this season.

He's like a 1 in 4 striker tops. Thats what you get for that money. I think Emineke is a better player than him and is a full international as well.

I just don't think he's that bad for 3rd choice striker. We're at tesco's not waitrose yet..

sidneyshitcunt 6:46 Tue Apr 19
Re: Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
Remember he cost £2.63m to loan for 1 season for Al-Ain, about the same price as the Czech striker at Reading Vydra (£2.5m), who has 2 in 22 in the Championship.

When considering whether signing him for £7.5m to £8m, which is about 3 times earnings in City speak ;-)

8 million...are you serious...

2-3 million...and more likely a Free is his value...

Championship is his level ...if he can handle the rough treatment...

"Really? Did we take a punt on Payet? Kouyate? Obiang? Ogbonna? Carroll? All good players, all proven at the top level in good leagues."

Any player you take from another league is a punt. You really don't know how they'll take to it or when they will get used to things.

Especially strikers who are only rated by goals and cant hide behind other playing stats. The amount of strikers who were "tried and tested" in other leagues, even other clubs in the same league, and then failed is massive.

It's a hard position to get right and players that look shit one year (Kane) go on to be world beaters the next.

Look at Gervinho at Arsenal, got into great positions but missed some sitters etc.. fans got on his back. Wenger got rid of him and then he pops up at Roma and was banging them in for fun.

As I've said before, he gets in the positions and he stretches defenders. He's good on the ball and the only thing is missing is the accuracy in the shooting. He's not our no.1 striker so for 8m I really dont see the problem.

I dont think he was match fit when he came (not sure he was playing regular football before Jan). So in the circumstances I think he's done alright.

And yes he's 29, but we're not looking for sell on value here. We want a squad striker. Bring me another striker who will have 6 months of prem experience or a good record in a top league for 8m?

I dont think they exist.

Re: Emmanuel Emenike Signed on loan
Emenike...

Good technique...ok speed...but just not Prem Quality...even as a backup striker...really doesn't know where the goal is...apart from Blackburn...

Probably had the lowest strikes (on or off target) per minutes of our attackers...

Thanks ...but Goodbye...
